Part-Time The Radiology Nurse utilizes nursing processes based on research and evidence based outcomes to meet patient care needs. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment and provides quality nursing care to all patients in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act and professional regulatory standards. The Radiology Nurse, without exception maintains patient privacy, dignity, and safety and is responsible to provide care specific to Radiology procedures/interventions during all hours of the day or night. Areas where the nurse may function are as follows: Main X-Ray, Interventional (Angio), Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of all departmental and hospital standards, policies and procedures. Works in collaboration with other departments for the benefit of patient care. All Radiology Nurses participate in the call rotation. Performs other duties as assigned. For the first 6 months of employment corresponds to the "novice" nurse in Benner's model. During the 6 month probationary period the nurse is obtaining knowledge and experience in clinical and technical skills. Under the guidance of a preceptor, charge nurse, nurse manager and educator, this nurse collects objective data and seeks assistance in making clinical decisions. After successfully passing the probationary period, the nurse corresponds to the "advanced beginner" in Benner's model. The advanced beginner nurse is guided by policies, procedure and standards. They are building a knowledge base through practice and are most comfortable in a task environment. They describe a clinical situation from the viewpoint of what they need to do rather than relating the context of the situation or how the patient responds. Advanced beginners practice from a theoretical knowledge base while they recognize and provide for routine patient needs. Education, Training and Experience Required : Associates Degree in Nursing Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Skills or Other Qualifications Required : Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of age of population served, and additional skills and knowledge of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments. Preferred : Interventional Radiology experience is strongly preferred. License and Certifications Required : State of California RN License. AHA BLS, ACLS & PALS Certifications. Current NIHSS certification is required within 30 days of hire. Preferred : CRN
