The Registered Nurse provides quality-nursing care in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act, incorporates Chemical Dependency care modalities and utilizes the nursing process, based on evidence-based outcomes to meet patient care needs. The population served is the adult and geriatric patient requiring chemical dependency treatment interventions. Surgical or procedural intervention. Additionally, works collegially as part of a multidisciplinary care team to provide safe, compassionate and effective care. Demonstrates competence and sensitivity in caring for multicultural patient/families by adapting the Plan of Care based on cultural needs identified. Follows evidence based clinical standards when formulating the patient Plan of Care/problem list. Demonstrates ability to work in a multicultural team environment and is respectful of the cultural diversity of the workforce and patients we serve. Performs the above job functions, and in addition, provides clinical supervision of patient care and job performance supervision of all employees on an assigned shift. Plans, coordinates and provides for optimum patient care on the unit. Maintains the standards of nursing care as established. Identifies the number and level of personnel needed to provide patient care and adjusts staffing and assignments appropriately. Evaluates the capabilities of other professionals prior to delegating duties. Provides clinical nursing supervision for all department RNs. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports Hoag Hospital’s, Patient Care Services, Perioperative Service’s and Unit’s mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned. The novice nurse is obtaining knowledge and experience in clinical and technical skills. Under the guidance of a preceptor, charge nurse, nurse manager and educator, this nurse collects objective data and seeks assistance in making clinical decisions. The advanced beginner nurse is guided by policies, procedure and standards. They are building a knowledge base through practice and are most comfortable in a task environment. They describe a clinical situation from the viewpoint of what they need to do rather than relating the context of the situation or how the patient responds. Advanced beginners practice from a theoretical knowledge base while they recognize and provide for routine patient needs. Job Requirements : Active, Current California RN License BLS Certification Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of age of population served, and additional skills and knowledge of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments If BSN has not been obtained upon hire then the Clinical Nurse I must begin the BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain their BSN within two years of starting the program Job Preferences : BSN Two (2) years Chemical Dependency Nursing experience
